Fireworks are launched near the City of Alpena’s water treatment plant, and can viewed from the Starlite Beach, Mich-e-ke-wis Park, Blair Street Park, Thomson Park, Bay View Park, City Marina as well as other locations in the City. Battle Creek: Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival runs July 1-4, and culminates with fireworks at 10:30 p.m. July 4, W.K. Kellogg Airport, 237 Helmer. Admission is $10 on July 4, kids under 4 feet tall admitted free. $5 parking. www.bcballoons.com.

Boyne City: 10:30 p.m. July 4 over Lake Charlevoix at Veterans Memorial Park, 207 N. Lake St. Arts and Crafts Show and musical entertainment begins Friday. Daylong festival has running races at 7:30 a.m., parade at 11 a.m.; music, food, kids’ activities in Veterans Memorial Park all day, Duck Race at 2:30 p.m., Soapbox Derby at 4 p.m. and fireworks at 10:30 p.m. . www.boynechamber.com.

Canton: 1-11 p.m. June 18, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. June 19, Heritage Park, 1010 S. Canton Center Road as part of Canton Liberty Festival. Offerings include midway rides and games, classic car show, vendors, activities for children and more. Highlights include the Verve Pipe (7:30 p.m. Fri.) and fireworks (dusk Sat.) Due to increased construction traffic, festival goers are encouraged to park at Freedom Park and Griffin Park. Mackinac Island: 6:30 p.m. July 4, “Ft. Mackinac, an American Picnic,” held at the Ft. Mackinac parade grounds with the Grand Hotel’s all-you-can-eat food, followed by fireworks. $42 adults, $21 for youths ages 5-17. Those 4 and younger admitted free.
