About Lightfoot Lapidary and Flower Artwork

Chuck and Pat Lightfoot live in Caro, 30 miles east of Saginaw in the heart of Michigan’s thumb. Their two acre yard includes 14 flower gardens featuring mostly perennial plants such as lily, roses and butterfly bushes. Both are rock-hounds, always looking for a pretty rock wherever they are. Many of the flower gardens are accented with stone collected from Michigan and other states they have visited over the years. Some of the stones in the gardens include a 30 lb Petoskey stone, a 300 lb pudding stone, petrified dinosaur bone and petrified wood.
Pat enjoys her flowers year round by drying and pressing flowers to add them to a variety of items such as bookmarks and greeting cards. Upon request she also presses flowers from special occasions such as weddings and funerals and mounts them in frames for the families.
In 2001 they purchased lapidary equipment to cut and polish their stone collection. Over the years they have developed several unique products which include stone and dried-pressed flowers. The Michigan plaques, boxes, key chains, and pocket knife are keepsakes to be handed down through generations and favorite memorabilia gifts for those Michiganders who have left the state.
