Hopz Girl Hops Soap Hopz Girl was created after researching other uses for hops besides beer brewing. Adding hops to soap and other bath products has become popular over the past couple of years due to the wonderful health benefits. Hops in bath and body products is used for variety of health benefits that has been confirmed through research. Among the health benefits from use of hops include relaxation and sleep inducer, anti-inflammatory effect, estrogenic effect, antioxidant activity and as an anti tumor properties. Tanya Debski, owner of Hopz Girl, started researched essential oils, herbal supplements and medications that use hop cones (specifically the oils and acids within the cones). With her background consisting of college instruction, pharmaceutical, health care and supply chain, she knew she needed to research peer reviewed journal articles for research conducted on hop plants with regards to supplements and additives along with contacting suppliers that she already had great connections with. She found a wealth of great information detailing the benefits and current uses of hops. This is where her adventure in making soap along with other bath and body products started. As of to date, Hopz Girl is only making hand crafted soap with hops. However, they are trialing body butters and scrubs. Hopz Girl hopes to have those ready to go in the next 4-8 weeks. They are looking to make beer soap as well. All of Hopz Girl soaps contain oils that are infused with hop and some soaps have pelleted hops added.
All hops used in the soaps come from their own farm, Hops Ridge Farms, in Grand Rapids Michigan. Their hops production is Food Certified through the State of Michigan. The centennial farm itself dates back to 1838. Farming is a passion for Tanya’s family and they are dedicated to quality crops just as generations past. In the process, founders of Hops Ridge Farms are teaching their children how to farm with the intention of passing the farm on to them.
Hopz Girl soaps are made with oils, fats, lye, distilled water, essential oils, fragrance oils and hops. There are no additives added to enhance or take away from the soap’s natural characteristics. Adding hops to soap and other bath products has become popular over the past couple of years. With over 5,000 breweries nationwide up and running and soon to open their doors, more hop farms than ever before or popping up, especially in Michigan!
