Supplier Information

IMPORTANT Correct shipping procedures is required! Depending on the item in the order, it may ship 1st class, flat rate, regular priority mail, or "*Regional" priority mail (more on the free cost effective Regional Priority Mail boxes later). It is imperative that the correct shipping box is used to avoid payment due to USPS due to "Mismatch" packaging. To avoid customer disappointment and additional expense to you, you must package your item(s) securely to avoid breakage during shipment. If shipping glass or breakable items, use bubble wrap around the item and peanuts and bubble pillows to cushion the item and fill the box. Make sure there is NO movement in the package to make it less likely to break. Also use "Fragile" stickers or mark FRAGILE on the package. The delivery services are getting very strict with claims and require pictures of the box (as well as often times the customer is required to take the package into their local post office). If they feel it was not packaged appropriately, the insurance claim will be denied.

It is important to provide clear and accurate product description. Remember, the customer can not feel, touch, smell your product so you need to him them visualize. It's more difficult to entice an online sale than in a store where the customer can actually interact with the product. Also provide important details applicable to your product such as ingredients, materials used, care instructions, baking, cooking, freezing instructions, etc. A good product description (preferably 300 words) also helps with better Search Engine Optimization for your product.

There are a variety of ways to package orders and many shipping methods. We need to know what type of package this product will best fit in. Because our customers purchase from multiple suppliers, we must use the most cost effective method. NOTE: packaging the item correctly is imperative so we are not billed for under-paid shipping charges by USPS due to not enough weight or mismatched package.

IMPORTANT: This is the amount paid to you for a regular retail sale on the Michigan Made website. EXAMPLE: If each set of earrings you make costs you $2 in materials, $2 in packaging material, and you pay yourself $10 for the half hour it takes to make them, your wholesale price may be $14.

Pricing Rule: This is your actual MSRP. EXAMPLE: Your typical mark up may be 2 times your wholesale price. If your wholesale price is $14, then your retail price may be $28. NOTE: The retail price listed on Made In Michigan website is at or below the price of which you sell the item via any other sales channel, or comparable to similar product sold online. We do not list items higher than found elsewhere.

SECTION 4: SHIPPING INFORMATION

NOTE: Supplier does NOT incur shipping charges. HOWEVER, you must provide accurate shipping weight for each item and you must use the applicable package that corresponds with the shipping label! (ie; can not use a Priority Mail box for a First Class shipping label) Michigan-Made sends the supplier a prepaid shipping label for actual shipping cost, hence the reason for size and weight. Our shopping cart is connected to the USPS shipping app, which calculates shipping cost based on weight, dimensions, and ship to zip code. If your application is approved, more information about shipping and shipping supplies will be provided in the supplier-info document that will be sent to your email. That document is a "MUST READ"!

 NOTE: We will provide you with "ADDITIONAL SHIPPING INFORMATION" in the "Your Products Are Listed, What's Next?" email. This document will provide information on which shipping methods to use and when. For example, First Class, Flat Rate, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Regional. Due to the thousands of packages we ship yearly, it is important that the most cost effective shipping method is used. More about that later. It is also imperative that appropriate package material be used to product your product from damage in shipping. Helpful tips will be provided in the Additional Shipping Information section that is included in the supplier document, which is a MUST READ!

SECTION 5: WHOLESALE SIDE

You have the option to provide your product(s) to our wholesale account businesses and fundraiser organizations. They purchase the minimum required amount to receive wholesale prices. Our wholesale account businesses have brick and mortar stores that may want to stock your product on their shelves. On occasion we also have people holding events (such as fundraisers, weddings or business conventions) that would like to purchase in quantity and receive wholesale prices.
THIS IS IMPORTANT: Michigan-Made receives 15% of the total wholesale order. It’s understood and agreed that any future wholesale orders that initially derives through Made In Michigan Products & Gifts will continually be considered a Michigan-Made client. The supplier will not sell directly to any repeat business accounts that initially derived from Made In Michigan Products; the supplier will forward any such wholesale inquiries to Michigan-Made for re-ordering, even if our partnership is discontinued.

NOTE: This can be a quantity or a dollar value. If dollar value, include the $ sign. Please take into consideration that our retail accounts are mostly "mom and pop" shops and can not afford to purchase in large quantity. We suggest a required minimum of $100 or below. Also, keep in mind that the retail account is more than likely ordering from several different Michigan-Made suppliers. With the move on "Michigan Made" - they like to offer at least a "Made In Michigan" section in their brick and mortar store for their customers.
